At 70, the people of Labour join their brothers and sisters across the nation to applaud the Dominica Labour Party’s pivotal role in Dominica’s journey towards self-governance and independence.
The party’s foundational leaders, including EC Loblack, Phyllis Shand Alfred, and the legendary Edward Oliver LeBlanc, laid the groundwork for political stability and economic progress in challenging times. Their vision and dedication helped shape the nation’s identity and institutional frameworks for socioeconomic advancement.
In the fruition of their vision, in the accomplishments of our founding mission, the historical and contemporary contributions of the Dominica Labour Party to Dominica’s political, social, and economic development are living realities for citizens from every walk of life in Dominica. Indeed, DLP’s long tenure is a reward:
- A reward for accountable, transparent, people-centered governance that has guided the party’s consistent efforts to promote social justice and economic development.
- A reward for being at the forefront of championing workers’ rights, education, healthcare, and economic livelihood, which have significantly improved the standard of living for ordinary Dominicans.
- A reward for unprecedented youth empowerment and elderly care
- A reward for lifting thousands of the so-called “poor and downtrodden” to home ownership status in the past 25 years
On this occasion, we celebrate the accomplishments of the Dominica Labour Party in transforming lives, empowering communities, and building the foundation for an inclusive and progressive Dominica.
