Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described the ten years of Presidency by Charles Savarin as one of “commitment and love for the nation.”
His Excellency Charles Savarin demits office on October 1, 2023, and will be replaced by Sylvania Burton on October 2, 2023. President-Elect Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton will become the first woman ever to hold the post of President of Dominica and also the first Kalinago.
“It has been a service of distinction, commitment, love of our nation and a service to country…so vast and profound and sincere,” says Prime Minister Skerrit.
“I want to say a big thank you to the President from myself…I have benefitted from his wisdom, intellect, and knowledge and I want to say thank you to him and his family for service to the country.”
Meantime, outgoing President of Dominica Charles Savarin has described President-Elect Sylvanie Burton as “an exceptional person in her rights, level headed and well informed.”
“She is a leader in her rights…in her community and one who rises to the office of Permanent Secretary in the public service and nobody has challenged her competence, her leadership, and eligibility to be President of Dominica and I am personally very happy for her,” he said.
He said President-Elect Sylvanie Burton has created “history in Dominica” and that should not go unnoticed.
