The Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC)congratulates the NDP of Prime Minister Godwin Friday

Roseau, Commonwealth of Dominica, 27th November 2025: The Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC) of the Commonwealth of Dominica extends its most sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the New Democratic Party (NDP), and through it, to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on the historic outcome of the 2025 general elections. The prioritization of the people’s will — as expressed through their ballots — stands as a powerful affirmation of democratic values.
We salute the leadership of Dr. Godwin Friday on his election as the nation’s seventh Prime Minister since independence.

The achievement of eleven parliamentary seats is sufficient to form a government and thereby conclude 25 years of opposition for the NDP, marking a significant turning point in the political history of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and by extension the region.
The ERC commends the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for their active civic participation.

Through a peaceful, participatory, and fair electoral process, they have demonstrated the essential power of democracy and the right of every citizen to determine their own governance. As Dr. Friday prepares to assume the mantle of leadership, the ERC looks forward with optimism. We trust that the new government will prioritize transparent governance, uphold electoral integrity, and pursue policies that advance socio-economic development, public accountability, and human rights.

A stable and democratic St. Vincent and the Grenadines contributes not only to national progress but also to the broader advancement of governance standards across the Caribbean. The ERC is also hopeful that people of the Commonwealth of Dominica will see the need to demonstrate similar civic engagement when the opportunity presents itself to exercise their civic responsibility through their ballots to bring about a change of governance to a similar 25-year Labor party-led government in the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The ERC affirms its support for citizens’ engagement in the democratic process and stands ready to collaborate with civil-society partners across the region to uphold and strengthen democratic norms. We wish Prime Minister Friday, the NDP, and all Vincentian citizens success and unity in this new chapter, and we encourage a spirit of reconciliation.
shared responsibility, and national renewal.
