Shakur Ward of Guyana/St. Lucia residing at River Street Roseau appeared before Magistrate Michael Laudat on a charge of theft and is now on remand awaiting someone to bail him.
The prosecution did not object to bail stating that it must be done with conditions and a proper surety.
According to information presented in court, Ward, on May 20, 2023, at Melville Battery Kingshill stole 12,480 clipper cigarette lighters valued at $44,200.00 belonging to Daryl Bapaume.
He told the court that he recently got a job, and wants to be “self-sufficient and be a better person” so he needed to be on bail to get things going.
Bail was set at $45,000.00 with a proper surety and the matter was adjourned to October 10, 2023.
