A nine-member jury has returned a unanimous verdict of “guilty” on Colles King of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to police woman Joan Augustine Leblanc.
The incident is said to have occurred on February 6, 2021, at the Portsmouth Police Station.
King, who is represented by lawyer David Bruney, maintained his innocence in the matter and spoke from the prisoners’ dock, stating that the police officer was the one who “grabbed him by the collar of his shirt” and started the aggression.
He is now on remand at the State’s Prison awaiting sentencing in the matter. Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sherma Dalrymple prosecuted on behalf of the State in the matter.
