The Dominica Police Force has issued a stern warning to the general public ahead of the staging of the 25th World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) scheduled for October 24-26, 2025, at the Windsor Park Stadium.
According to the police, all necessary security measures are in place, and they work closely with officials from the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) and relevant stakeholders.
The police also reported that to date, activities held have been “clean and incident-free’ and are urging the public to “keep it that way.”
“We are asking the public to continue working with the police so we can continue to have peaceful and incident-free activities. Behave yourself, respect the police and the instructions given. If you fail, you may very well not see the festival, as you will be put away,” acting police Chief Lincoln Corbette said.
The police also advised of traffic changes, inclusive of “no parking” and also warned vendors that they should not vend in certain areas. “You will end up having your drinks, etc be taken away and dumped,” he stated.
“We also need to remind you that it is an offense to smoke in public, secure your firearms if you are a licensed firearms holder, do not bring them to the park because the police Chief will deem that a security risk and have your license revoked,” Chief Corbette warned.
Also issuing a warning to the public was Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alleyne Maximea, acting superintendent of police in charge of the Central Division, and Traffic Delvin Jno Lewis, acting superintendent of police in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Chasuer James, and acting Deputy Chief of Police Joffery James.
They all urged the police to “be safe, secure, vehicles properly, and act within the confines of the law” as they wished everyone “a safe, peaceful, and incident-free festival.”
