
Under the watchful eyes of the police, several persons gathered in solidarity outside the courthouse as they awaited those arrested by the police to make their first court appearances.
On their arrival in the prison bus and shackled, they were cheered by those present. Activist and retired nurse Rosie Felix, Taxi Operator Paula Celestine, and former MP for Roseau North Daniel “Danny” Lugay were granted bail of $25,000 with no reporting conditions by magistrate Pearl Williams after being charged following protest action against Electoral Reform legislation held on Victoria Street in Roseau on March 19.
The chairman of the Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC), Johnson Boston, was arrested at his home in Jimmit and was also granted bail of $25,000.00
Former MP for the Salisbury constituency, Hector John, was among those arrested last week and was granted bail of $30,000 on March 24.
Samuel Durand, JnoBaptiste Charles, Bernard Moreau, Imran Joseph, Siri Defoe, Clementina Mitchel, Sorhaindo Durand, and Moses Prosper were among others arrested.
Joshua Francis is among the lawyers spending hours representing those arrested along with Ronald Charles. Cara Shillingford, Noelize Knight Dider, Heather Felix Evans, Janae Jackson, Gildon Richards, and Gina Abraham Thomas also make appearances.
