Shabeh jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to intimidation with Air Pistol

A Fond Cole man is now behind bars after pleading guilty to an ” Intimidation ” charge using an Air Pistol.

Shervin “Shabeh” Pierre is aged 32 years old from the community of Fond Cole and Liana Prince is a 47-year-old female who resides in Beau Bois Castle Comfort and is the proprietor of Lee Lee’s Hotspot Grocery Shop located at Fond Cole.

Brief Facts

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at about 5 pm, the complainant was in her shop at Fond Cole when the defendant who is unemployed entered the shop to purchase cigarettes. He paid with a $20.00 bill and was given eighteen dollars change (in coins) to purchase two (2) cigarettes. He became angry and didn’t want the change in coins and an argument ensured between the both of them.

Pierre (the defendant) left the shop but returned shortly thereafter and was holding what appeared to be a black handgun in his right hand that was tucked in the waist of his pants. He went straight to the back of the counter and demanded that he be given back his $20.00 by saying “I will kill you.”

Afraid for her life, she gave him the $20.00 bill, he left the coins and the cigarettes on the counter and then left the shop. She then made a report to the Roseau Police Station who then went in search of the defendant. He was met and arrested and had what appeared to be “a black air pistol” in his possession.

Sentencing

The Magistrate took into consideration his plea of “GUILTY” at the first opportunity but stated that he had a duty to protect the society and people need to feel “safe at their home.” The prosecution also informed the court that Shabeh is “no stranger to the court.”

As a result, he was sentenced to 18 months in jail.
