Woman on guns and firearm charges denied bail

Francian Joseph of Lovers Lane, Bense has been denied bail after she appeared before the Magistrate’s court in Portsmouth where several charges were read to her.

The prosecution states that on December 1, 2021, at Lovers Lane, Bense, Francian Joseph had in her possession, one (1) black 9mm Taurus G-2 series magazine without being the holder of a valid license.

She is also charged with possession of one (1) 9mm Smith and Wesson magazine without being the holder of a valid license; 55 live 5.56 caliber rounds ammunition without being the holder of a valid license, 35 live 9mm rounds, one black semi-automatic AR-15 rifle serial number-17002890 and one black semi-automatic AR-15 pistol serial number unknown.

The police have also slapped her in engaging in the unlawful movement of one (1) black 9mm Taurus G-2 series magazine; one (1) 9mm Smith and Wesson magazine; 55 live 5.56 caliber rounds ammunition, 35 live 9mm rounds, one black semi-automatic AR-15 rifle serial number-17002890, and one black semi-automatic AR-15 pistol serial number unknown without being the holder of a firearms and ammunition’s license.

Her boyfriend who was picked up by the police for questioning was released and not charged. The prosecution strongly objected to bail stating that the firearms and ammunition found were serious offenses and carry stiff penalties if found guilty.

Magistrate Bernard Pacquette agreed with the prosecution and denied bail. The matter is set for March 2022.
