The Education sector in Dominica, along with students, staff of the Pierre Charles Secondary School (PCSS), and the community of Grand Bay, has been plunged into mourning over the sudden passing of the Assistant Principal of the Grand Bay of the PCSS, Claudia Toussaint.
According to reports, Ms. Toussaint, who was also head of the modern language department at the school and a Social Studies teacher, complained of feeling unwell while at school on November 10, 2025, and collapsed.
She was rushed to the Grand Bay Health Center, but efforts to revive her failed, and she was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
She has been a teacher for the pasted 23 years and was also an assistant examiner of the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC).
Ms Toussaint, as she was fondly known, was also an active member of the Grand Bay Credit Union and served on the board and other committees of the institution. She was the mother of one child, a daughter.
