Media fraternity rocked by the sudden passing of veteran broadcaster Shermaine Green-Browne

The media fraternity in Dominica and the region is shocked and in mourning at the news of the sudden passing of veteran broadcaster and journalist Shermaine Green-Browne.

In 2016, Mrs Green-Brown along with Felix Henderson bid farewell to a station (DBS Radio) where each had been employed for over four decades. That’s a combined period of eighty years.

According to a Sun Newspaper article, “Broadcasters Felix Henderson and Shermaine Green-Brown are getting ready to retire from the Dominica Broadcasting Corporation (DBS Radio popularly known as the Nation’s Station). Green-Brown is scheduled to leave in December and Henderson in December 2016.”

After her retirement, Shermaine as she was most popularly known went into her “private space” while Felix Henderson continued working until his death.

News of the passing of the veteran broadcaster has taken Dominica and the region by storm as she was not known to be suffering from any major illness.

Before her retirement in 2016, Green-Browne who was married to OAS Ambassador to Dominica Paul Browne, held several positions at DBS over her long and distinguished career including General Manager (acting) and Programme Director.

She joined the staff of DBS radio in 1977 and rose to the rank of programme Director and also acted as general manager.

Her voice was sound in the DBS 13:15 (Total News) as News Editor and also hosting the popular “Talking Point” programme.

Nature Isle News (NIN) extends condolences to the family and friends of Shermine Green-Browne and also the media fraternity in Dominica and the region.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
