Prime Minister Skerrit extends condolences to the Media fraternity on the passing of Ken Richards

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described the death of former BBC Broadcaster Ken Richards as “a great loss to Dominica and the region.”

Ken Richards died on May 21, 2023, at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital at age 67 after battling illness.

At a media press conference on June 1, 2023, PM Skerrit stated, “I take this opportunity to extend condolences to members of the media fraternity on the passing of your esteemed colleague Ken Richards.

“Mr. Richards was a highly regarded regional journalist who reached the pinnacle of his success with the BBC Caribbean show. Many of us will be familiar with his firm, no-nonsense approach to journalism and broadcasting and I think his passing is a great loss to journalism in Dominica and the entire region. I sympathize with his family and I wish him a peaceful rest.”

The late Ken Richards will be buried in his home village of Pointe Michel on June 12, 2023, after a funeral mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church in Pointe Michel from 3 pm.
