The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) Inc. is proud to announce the
selection of two outstanding young advocates to represent Dominica at the upcoming
Regional Training the Trainers event hosted by the Commonwealth Disabled Peoples Forum
(CDPF). The training will take place from October 13-17, 2025, at the Accra Beach Resort in
Barbados.
Ms. Judy Sango and Mr. Loik Charles have been nominated to participate in this transformative initiative, which aims to empower young leaders with disabilities across the
Commonwealth. Both candidates have demonstrated exceptional commitment to disability
advocacy and leadership within DAPD and their communities.
Notably, both are also Directors on the Board of DAPD, where Ms. Sango currently serves as President of DAPD, while Mr. Charles holds the position of Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
Organized by the CDPF, which represents over 100 Disabled Peoples Organisations (DPOs) across the Commonwealth, this event marks the first in a series of regional trainings designed to build a cadre of Disability Equality Trainers.
The program will focus on advancing understanding of disability through a social model and human rights lens, and will equip participants to train fellow persons with disabilities as well as government officials responsible for implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). DAPD congratulates Ms. Sango and Mr. Charles on their selection and wishes them success as they embark on this important journey of learning, leadership, and regional collaboration.
