Police destroy drugs worth millions of dollars

A report from the police claims that on Friday, May 24, 2024, the Drugs Squad of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force destroyed by fire 9,988 kilograms of cannabis with an estimated street value of fourteen million, nine hundred and eighty-two dollars ($14,982,000.00).

They also destroyed 606.64 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of sixteen million, seventy-five thousand, nine hundred and sixty EC dollars.

According to the police, the drugs were seized over some time and some were kept in police custody for exhibit purposes.

The police say that they “remain transparent in its steadfast efforts to enforce the Drug Prevention and Misuse Act of Dominica” and to “reduce the impact these illegal drugs on our Dominican society.”

The police also thank the Dominican public for “their invaluable assistance, which they have thus far given to the Drugs Squad.”
