Students of the Dominica Grammar School (DGS) have yet to commence school for 2025 despite the assurances from the Ministry of Education that they will be accommodated in other areas as work continues on the new DGS building.

In a letter addressed to the parents/ guardian of the school from the acting principal Edina Darwton it states in part, “pertaining to the commencement of school, permit me to first thank you for your support and resilience you offered during this trying period. You have played a fundamental role in ensuring the stability of the process. Please note that the staff has been working tirelessly to ensure logistics details are in place before our students return.”

Here are the key updates from our discussions.

  1. A shift system is inevitable (We will operate on a shift system)
  2. Location details of shifts are being discussed to ensure the most comfortable arrangement for our students.
  3. The reopening of school will be deferred until further notice.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you once again for your patience and understanding in this matter. See the attached letter.
