Nurse Anette Thomas Sanford first female Kallinago Chief

Former United Workers Party (UWP) Senator and registered nurse Anette Thomas Sanford is the new Kallinago Chief elect.

The election took place on July 22, 2024, and preliminary results released showed that Sanford topped the polls with 693 votes with her nearest rival Natasha Green getting 272 votes.

As the preliminary results were being released, there were celebrations and motorcades in the streets of the Kallinago Territory.

The former parliamentary representative Casius Darroux came a distant third with 162 votes. In conceding defeat Darroux pledged “his full support to the newly elected Kallinago Chief.”

Reports are that Anette Thomas Sanford has become the first female to hold the position of Kallinago Chief.

Speaking to the press minutes after the official results were announced she thanked her supporters for placing their confidence in her and pledged to “work hard for all in the Kallinago Territory.”

In the last election for Kallinago Chief, Anette Thomas Sanford lost by three votes to Lorenzo Sanford who did not contest the 2024 elections.

The candidates are:

    A beautiful and powerful pic to accompany this story of triumph. Based on her performance within the UWP, i have no reason to have confidence in her ability to deliver. However, her victory has lessons for politicians; one of them is to forever remain close to the people. I believe she did, especially once she withdrew herself from the limelight of national politics.
