Dr Kenny Anthony, the long-serving parliamentary representative for Vieux Fort South, has announced he will not contest the next general election, bringing an illustrious political career to a close.
The 74-year-old former Prime Minister made the announcement Wednesday night during a Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) public meeting in Vieux Fort South, where he was the sole speaker. His speech, which lasted over 90 minutes, was introduced with the song By the Rivers of Babylon, a song Anthony said symbolised “the meditation of our hearts”.
“And so, I have come to this delicate juncture of which I speak. I have therefore decided that I will no longer offer myself to be your candidate at the next general election,” he said.
