March 12, 2026) – Over 100 Lineworkers from across the Caribbean will gather in Dominica from April 24–26, 2026, for the 2026 CARILEC Lineworkers Symposium and Rodeo, a regional event focused on training, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among electric utility professionals.

Hosted by the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) in collaboration with Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC), the CARILEC Lineworkers Symposium and Rodeo is a two-part event that combines technical training with a high-energy competition showcasing the skills of lineworkers from across the region.
The Lineworkers Symposium will provide participants with the opportunity to explore practical solutions currently being used in the field, including new tools, technologies, and safety practices. The event will culminate in the Lineworkers Rodeo, where teams will put their training into action in a highly competitive environment. The Rodeo features a series of technical challenges that simulate real-world field operations, testing participants’ precision, speed, teamwork, and commitment to safety.
The Lineworkers Rodeo will take place at Benjamin’s Park and is open to the general public, allowing residents and visitors to witness the expertise and teamwork required to keep electricity flowing across the region.
CARILEC’s Executive Director, Dr. Cletus Bertin, noted that “The Lineworkers Symposium and Rodeo represents the very best of regional collaboration, bringing together skilled professionals from across the Caribbean to strengthen safety practices, share knowledge, and elevate the standards of our industry. Hosting this event in Dominica provides a valuable opportunity for the local community to see firsthand the expertise required to keep electricity systems operating safely and reliably, while also highlighting the important role utilities like DOMLEC play in powering regional development.”
CARILEC is an association of electric utilities, independent power producers, and energy sector stakeholders across the Caribbean. The organization works to strengthen the regional energy sector through training, knowledge sharing, technical collaboration, and disaster response coordination, helping to improve reliability, safety, and resilience across the region’s energy sector.
