Chinese ambassador to Dominica His Excellency Chu Moaming throughout its 105-year history, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has remained committed to “self-reform, continuously advanced full and rigorous Party self-governance, enhanced its governance capacity, and maintained its vitality and vigor.” His comments were made when he addressed the press on the 105th anniversary of the CPC.
President Xi Jinping, he stated, called on all CPC members to “stay firm in convictions and forge ahead to accomplish new feats that answer the call of our times and live up to the expectations of the people.”
“More than a century ago, China was a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society plagued by internal turmoil, foreign aggression, poverty, and national weakness,” he said.
“Ordinary people suffered under imperialist bullying, feudal exploitation and authoritarian rule. They lived in extreme poverty, deprived of rights, dignity, and hope. It was under such circumstances that the CPC came into being. It united and led the Chinese people in arduous struggles, overthrew imperialist aggression, feudal oppression, and autocratic rule, and founded the People’s Republic of China, where the people became the masters of the country. Building on this foundation, China gradually solved the problem of food and clothing, moved from widespread poverty to moderate prosperity in all respects, and ultimately eradicated absolute poverty, enabling more than 1.4 billion people to enjoy stable, secure and better lives.”
“Today, the Chinese people have completely shaken off the fate of oppression and subjugation. With greater confidence, independence and self-reliance, they are taking the future of their country and their own destiny firmly into their own hands while steadily advancing toward common prosperity,” he stated.
He further disclosed that the CPC and the Dominica Labour Party share similar philosophies, views, and a long-standing friendly relationship. “China is ready to strengthen exchanges with the Dominica Labour Party on improving governance and better serving the people, so that both sides can continue to make new progress in our respective endeavors,” Ambassador Chu Moaming stated.
“Looking at the CPC’s mission and tasks, both now and in the years to come, we can better understand the underlying logic, practical direction and long-term vision behind the growing friendship and cooperation between China and Dominica. In this regard, I would like to focus on how China’s development under the leadership of the CPC will bring greater opportunities and benefits to Dominica.
He further stated that guided by mature and well-established theories, lines, and principles, the CPC has maintained strategic resolve in pursuing China’s development. Its foreign policy, he explained, is characterized by continuity and stability, and this provides the foundation for the long-term, steady development of China-Dominica relations.
“Regardless of changes in the international landscape, the CPC remains committed to the path of peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation. China will continue to understand and support Dominica on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns, and firmly support the Dominican people in exploring a development path suited to their own national conditions,” he said.
Serving the people wholeheartedly is both the starting point and the ultimate goal of all the CPC’s endeavors. The Party always places the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people above all else and works tirelessly to improve their well-being. This people-centered philosophy also underpins China’s cooperation with Dominica. Last year, the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum was successfully held. General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the five programs for building a China-Latin America and the Caribbean community with a shared future, with the aim of promoting cooperation across all fields and delivering tangible benefits to the peoples of both sides. Going forward, under the leadership of the CPC, China will continue to respond to Dominica’s development needs by expanding cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, education, and other areas, so that more Dominican people will benefit from our mutually beneficial cooperation.
