Skerrit says he is not worried about UWP CBI case

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says that his government is “not worried and have nothing to hide in the recent court case surrounding the Citizens by Investment Programme (CBI) in Dominica

Speaking at his party’s Delegates Convention in Vieille Case, Skerrit had this to say on the matter. “Let me say this upfront, we have nothing to worry about, we have nothing to hide. The CBI programme has been and remains a cornerstone of Dominica’s development. Our commitment to truth and justice has always been guided and that will not change,” he said.

He continued, “What we are seeing, is a deliberate attempt by the opposition to create distraction and steer up fear where none is warranted. The actions of the opposition are clear, they want to put an end to the CBI to deny you the benefits that you have been receiving from the Citizens by Investment Programme.”

“You know and I know the impact this will have on every one of us in Dominica. They are trying to destroy the backbone of our none tax revenue and trying to deny us the opportunity of decent homes and health care, our international airport, our children going to universities…so fellow Labourites, let us rise and let us not be quiet and silent while these people are attacking us, we have to fight back and stand firm,” Skerrit remarked.

According to him, the members of the United Workers Party (UWP) are only interested in getting power and not the people of Dominica so they will destroy you to get into power.

“They hope that if they destroy the CBI, no more housing, roads, NEP, Yes, We Care, the government will lose and they will come into government. They are prepared to lose their entire soul and destroy the fabric of our nation to gain power…the bible does not like people like that and that is why they will never get into government in Dominica.”

Skerrit stated that anytime elections are called in Dominica, “the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) will be back in government.”

“And you know they are talking about elections…oh Skerrit is going to call elections in Vieille Case, elections is December 6, and I am hearing these fellas talking on the radio, but afraid they fraid…ladies and gentlemen…Skerrit going to call elections (applause) because they know that the Labour Party is strong in the Commonwealth of Dominica. It looks like you guys are saying to me Skerrit we are ready, they don’t care about people once you hear the worker’s party raising money is for themselves,” he posited.

He stated that, too many times, political parties come to office and forget the working class, and is the working class that put them in government. “You know within the United Workers Party (UWP) there are good people, there are some of them who love Dominica and I am saying to them, if you want to use your skills and talents to the service of Dominica, there is no other political organization in Dominica other than the DLP, and I invite you to join us, let us form a government of National Unity where we can work together for the greater good of the people. So we are opening doors for you, come to LABOUR HOUSE, there are many mansions, many rooms we have prepared a place for you.”

“Come and be part of this great movement, a movement that is transforming Dominica, creating a dynamic Dominica, and greater opportunities for our people,” he said.
