Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Vince Henderson has hinted that very soon he will leave active politics.
During his contribution to the 2025/26 national budget, he had this to say, “Mr. Speaker, I am happy to be able to contribute to the National Budget and I seek to cherish those opportunities as I realize that there will not be many more like this. This may well be the last opportunity I may have as I make way to depart active politics.”
Henderson entered active politics in the 2000 general election under a Dominica Labour Party (DLP) ticket and defeated Doreen Paul of the United Workers Party (UWP).
Before he was appointed Ambassador to the United States and the Organization of American States (OAS) in 2016, he served as Ambassador/ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York, for five years from 2010.
His appointment as Dominica’s UN Ambassador to the United Nations was preceded by three ministerial positions between 2001 and 2010: Minister for Agriculture and the Environment, Minister for Education, Human Resource Development, Sports and Youth Affairs, and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Labour.
After the death of Edward Registe, he was brought back and ran for the DLP in the Grand Bay By-election in 2021.
