Dominican-born US-based trauma Surgeon Dr. Dale Dangleben finally officially received his license to practice medicine in Dominica, ending a thirteen-year wait.
According to Dr. Dangleben, he had initially submitted his application and a proposal to establish a medical facility in Dominica back in 2012. However, he was informed that his submission was “incomplete”.
“In 2018, I redirected my efforts to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where I submitted a proposal that was approved, and I was granted a medical license under the Ralph Gonsalves administration,” he said.
He explained further that the primary obstacle in Dominica had been “the absence of a U.S. police report, a requirement cited by government officials.”
“After providing the requested document along with my proposal in 2025, I was granted my medical license within weeks,” Dr. Dangleben stated.
“It’s a good feeling to finally get my medical license in Dominica…in my comfort, I have always wanted to help Dominica. My first step is making things accessible, and when I am on the island, to help other surgeons,” Dr. Dangleben said.
He continued, “Also, to help staff and other nurses, I don’t want it to be political. I am happy that I got it, and I am willing to help in any capacity and get back to brotherhood and sisterhood and hold each other’s hands in unity and stick to the original oath and helping people. I will soon have more exciting news and will be sharing it soon.”
Dr. Dangleben is presently the Chief of Surgery and Director of Trauma Services at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, United States.
