Roseau, Dominica – The RayAsta Foundation is launching a health promotion campaign aimed at educating students, teachers, and parents about the dangers of stroke, its warning signs, and the importance of early response. This initiative seeks to build awareness across school communities so that the Dominican community can recognize stroke symptoms quickly and take life-saving action.
Through interactive school presentations, the campaign will highlight:
- common signs and symptoms of stroke
- Risk factors and prevention
- What to do in an emergency
- The importance of early medical attention
Sessions will be delivered during regular school periods, such as homeroom or assembly. The presentations will be facilitated by the RayAsta team alongside Jael Joseph, Dr. Shane McIntyre, and Dr. Gael Thomas and will include educational and practical guidance.
“Our goal is to ensure that students and educators understand that stroke can happen to anyone and that recognizing the signs early can save lives,” said campaign coordinator Cecilia St. Hilaire. “Awareness is the first step to prevention.”
The RayAsta Stroke Awareness School Campaign will be rolled out across participating schools starting Monday, January 12, 2026.
