The Judicial and Legal Services Commission has appointed His Lordship, the Honourable Mario Michel, Justice of Appeal, to act as Chief Justice from May 5th to September 4th, 2024.
Michel succeeds the esteemed Hon Dame Janice M Pereira, DBE, who held the position since October 24, 2012, making her the first female Chief Justice of the court.
Dame Janice Pereira’s tenure spanned an impressive twelve years, marking her as the longest-serving Chief Justice to date.
Her retirement on May 4, 2024, paved the way for Justice Michel to assume the role.
