The police have arrested and charged a 16-year-old boy from the community of Marigot for the murder of Chinese national Zhopeng Ziang.
The juvenile was brought to court on March 2, 2022, where the charge was read to him. He was accompanied by a Welfare Officer.
According to the facts of the case, between February 22 and 23 at Marigot, the Juvenile is said to have murdered Zhopeng Ziang contrary to law.
He is represented in the matter by attorney at law Gina Abraham Thomas who made an application for bail before Magistrate Michael Laudat but bail was denied and he is remanded to the State Prison. Because he is a juvenile, he is protected by law and his identity should not be made public. His lawyer is preparing an application seeking his bail at the High Court.
The matter has been adjourned to June 22, 2022, in Marigot.
I hope they realize that the victim had a cutlass chasing the kid which makes his act self defense. The victim died of his wounds not by murder.
