Police make arrest in shooting death of Steven Paul

Two months after he (Steven Paul) was murdered in the community of Trafalgar (January 2, 2022) the police have arrested and charged Job Jean of Portsmouth for murder.

In a media release, head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Assistant Superintendent Belgrove Charles disclosed, that on March 3, 2022, Jean was formally charged with murder and on the following day was taken before a Magistrate where the charge was read to him.

He was not required to plea since murder is an indictable offence and must be tried at the High Court before a Judge and jury.

The preliminary inquiry into the matter is set for June 21, 2022.

“On behalf of the Chief of Police and other gazette officers and the investigating team of the CID, I would like to thank the family of those affected by this incident and for their patience and understanding during the course of this investigating,” ASP Charles stated.

Job Jean is now on remand at the Dominica State Prison awaiting trial of the matter.
