Police Officer arrested after his home was searched and nothing illegal found

Concerns are being expressed by police officers of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) over the arrest of a police officer early this week, although the search resulted in nothing illegal. Nature Isle News (NIN) can confirm, that a search party of police officers went to the home of a colleague armed with a search warrant, and a confrontation started, resulting in the officer being physically handled.

Nothing illegal was found at the home of the police officer by the search party, but he was brought to Police Headquarters and slapped with several charges including obstruction and battery on police.

He has since retained Cara Shillingford-Marsh from the law firm of Shillingford, Marsh and Associates Inc to represent him in the matter and is expected to appear in court on Friday, September 2, 2022.

Chairman of the Police Welfare Association (PWA) Corporal Jefferson Drigo has confirmed the arrest of the police officer but declined to give details. He did state that the PWA was offering “full support” to the police officer in the matter.

Nature Isle News (NIN) is closely following developments in this matter and will provide updates when they are available.
