Police Officer charged with attempted murder

A Police Officer of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has been arrested and slapped with a charge of “attempted murder” on the life of a civilian.

According to the charge as read in court, Ransom Frederick of the Kalinago Territory on July 9, 2022, at River Street in Roseau, did attempt to murder Glennie Linus Bruney.

He was not required to enter a plea as the charge is “indictable” and must be tried at the High Court before a Judge and jury.

The prosecution, headed by State Attorney attached to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Daina Matthew did not object to bail with “proper sureties and reporting conditions.”

Constable Frederick is represented by defense lawyers Wayne Norde and Gina Abraham Thomas and will be brought back to court today (July 15, 2022) when the formal bail application will be on his behalf by his lawyers.

Nature Isle News (NIN) will bring you details of that application.
