Police seeking help in weekend armed robbery

Police in Dominica say that they are conducting investigations into a report of an “armed robbery” that occurred Friday 11, March 2022.

According to Leanna Edwards acting Superintendent of Police with responsibilities for the Southern Division, the incident happened at 4:30 pm on the “Western Hillsborough Bridge in Layou.

“Information received, indicated that two employees of the Tranquility Beach Hotel were traveling on vehicle registration number TP773 owned by the Tranquility Beach Hotel when they were held by two masked men armed with a shotgun,” Superintendent (acting) Edwards stated.

“The driver was held at gunpoint and he was also shot in the face, they left with an unspecified amount of cash,” she said.

The armed robberies she disclosed fled the scene on a “black Honda HRV vehicle” the police stated.

“The driver sustained injuries to his right chick, right eye and neck, was medically examined at the St. Joseph Health Center and was referred to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH)…his injuries are not life-threatening,” the acting Superintendent of police stated.

The police are seeking the assistance of the general public who may have any information about the incident to call Police Headquarters at 611-5100/611-5158, the St. Joseph Police Station at 611-4852/611-4855/6114856, and Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477.
