On Friday 30th of December 2022, the Police Welfare Association hosted its second annual award ceremony at the Alliance Francaise under the auspices of the acting Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr. Irving McIntyre.
The keynote speaker retired Woman Superintendent of Police Yvonne Alexander spoke on the topic of the “oath and the badge”. Fifty persons including serving police officers and retired police officers and civilians were recognized. Notably, the prosecutor of the year went to Inspector Davidson Cadette, investigator of the year went to Sergeant Boycott Yankey, Constable of the year went to Melvin Celestine, Corporal of the year went to Carlisle Scotland, Sergeant of the year went to Hans Francis and Inspector of the Year went to Jerome Bannis.
Special recognition was given to retired Superintendent of police Philsbert Alfred for his invaluable contribution to the police force locally and regionally. The other awards went to outstanding officers in their departments and for outstanding academic and sports performances.
