Sineku man found not guilty of rape but guilty of indecent assault

Frank Joseph Laurent from the community of Sineku who was charged with rape and indecent assault on a female was acquitted of rape but found guilty of indecent assault.

At the arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to both charges and after a full trial, he was found guilty of the lesser charge. The incident occurred in 2018.

He was represented in the matter by Joshua Francis of the law firm of HAJ Chambers.

State attorney attached to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Daina Matthew assisted by Marie-Louis Pierre Louis and led by DPP Sherma Dalrymple conducted the state’s case before High Court Judge Richard Floyd

He is remanded while awaiting a sentencing hearing to be held on March 17, 2023.
