A West Coast man is now on remand at the Stock Farm Prison after Magistrate Pearl Williams deemed him a ‘flight risk” and said it was not in the public’s interest to grant him bail.
The man appeared in court unrepresented on a charge of abduction, indecent assault, and unlawful sexual intercourse with a 7-year-old girl earlier this year.
According to the prosecution led by sergeant David Andrew Jr, the accused man who was arrested in Roseau had evaded the police for weeks and when found had in his possession $3,700.00 and they believe he was trying to flee the jurisdiction.
They also claim that he made several calls to the child’s mother offering her money so as not to prosecute the matter.
The Magistrate called the situation “alarming” and said that base on the facts as presented by the prosecution she was denying him bail. She also expressed about other children who are being molested and told the accused that since he has told the court he has two minor children they are also vulnerable to the situation.
AA she in know how to send ppl Stockfarm nah? She never did anything to my children abuser and look she even trying to erase the maintenance he owing them after she did nothing about the physical and sexual abuse they suffered from him.
I hope he is also charged with trying to pay hush money. This is also an offence.
Please fast track this case through the High Court and don’t let this drag on for years . The child and family need to get through this trauma and heal.
