Defending champions win after two weeks of inactivity

Back-to-back defending champions Sagicor South East FC kept their championship hopes alive with a comfortable victory in their last outing in the 2021 Dominica Football Association (DFA) Premier Division League.

After a two weeks break from football action, the defending champs took to the field on Wednesday against Petro Caribe Pointe Michel FC in a rescheduled encounter at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth.

Player of the game Davon George netted twice and Javid George scored one goal in the three goals to one margin of victory. The halftime score was one goal all.

The lone goal for Pointe Michel FC was scored by Donte Warrington. The win for South East FC closes the gap by three points over league leaders Central Cooperative Credit Union Dublanc FC.

Meanwhile, the two scheduled Division One matches on Wednesday evening ended prematurely because of power failure. At the Almond Park in Dublanc, Might Avengers FC and Wayne George Football Academy were forced to abandon their encounter. At the time of the abandonment, Mighty Avengers enjoyed two goals to one advantage with 40 minutes left in the encounter.

At Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, the encounter between Derby Boyz FC and Middle Ham United FC also ended prematurely in the 10th minute of play, the score was nil-all when the power outage occurred.

There was no football last weekend due to concerns about COVID-19 protocol breaches.
