Health officials in Dominica have confirmed that Dominica has recorded another COVID-19 case bringing the active cases on the island to 3 and the total COVID-19 cases to 21.
Dr. McIntyre had this to say on state run DBS radio today.
“Yesterday 28th August, Dominica confirmed its third positive case of COVID-19. It’s a 33-year-old female who traveled from New York and arrived at Douglas-Charles airport on Wednesday, August 26th, in view of the fact that this traveler came from a high-risk country, specific protocols had to be followed,” he said.
“The traveler was accessed and swabbed at the secondary screening at the Douglas Charles Airport and according to mandatory protocols; this traveler was immediately transferred to the the quarantine center in Portsmouth.”
According to Dr. McIntyre, the results came in yesterday August 28th, 2020, and the patient was immediately transferred to the COVID facility at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).
“This brings our present active cases to three (3), we are also retesting our index case one (1) this weekend, the Ministry of Health continues to be vigilant as well as diligent in making sure that all protocols are being implemented and enforced,” Dr. McIntyre stated.
He also warned the public that “all safety health measures must be adhered to” such as the proper washing of hands, the wearing of masked in shared spaces, proper physical distancing etc.
He called on all to “come on board to adhere to the proper protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic.
