Dominica Orlando Movement (DOM) continues its donation drive in Dominica

The Dominica Orlando Movement (DOM) through its local representative in Dominica Albert “Wang” Titre has been making contributions to various needy institutions in Dominica.

Dominica Orlando Movement was established in September 2015 after Tropical Storm Erika devastated Dominica.

According to a release from the group, “as a small group of enthusiastic individuals with common goals geared toward promoting the Island of Dominica, celebrating its culture and connecting with Dominicans locally to came together to help the country of their birth.”

“To date, we have 22 active members and numerous supporters.”

Motto/Purpose

To help the Commonwealth of Dominica, spread awareness about the country and unite Dominicans in Central Florida under one flag and one mission.

Accolades/Accomplishments over the years

To date, DOM raised over $20,000 in supplies to assist the citizens of Dominica and supports the dire needs of Dominicans locally and abroad, and raises funds to assist as needed.

DOM says they have a network with “other Dominican and Caribbean associations to support their needs financially.”

In 2018, the group held a fundraiser dinner with some of the proceeds donated to the Dominica Infirmary in aid of the residents.

While in 2019 – DOM donated supplies with a value of $3,500 to support the Grotto Home residents with food and personal items.

2020 – Due to the Covid outbreak we were unable to raise funds as planned but managed to organize a Christmas giveaway by way of 3, $75.00 Walmart gift cards.

DOM Membership information:

Registration fee: $25.00- Includes DOM Tshirt

Quarterly dues: $10.00

Meetings are held quarterly with 100% of DOM donations being not-for-profit and all/funds are donated for the benefit of Dominicans locally and abroad.
