As the debate continues over the rental of a $32,000.00 house at Morne Daniel for Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, he said that he will not be intimidated by what he has described as “acts of harassment towards him by his opponents”.
Last week, pressure group the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) staged protest action at the foot of Morne Daniel after Cabinet approved the rental price of the home for the Prime Minister.
“If you as a person and somebody is harassing your life what do you do…don’t you call the police or go to your lawyer, so why can’t I have the same protection that you have,” Skerrit asked.
“Reflect and meditate upon this especially those who are supporting individuals and those who are engaged in this harassment of Roosevelt Skerrit. You have children, you have brothers and sisters, you have families and is a human being ask yourself if you would like to be subjected to such harassment,” he said.
According to Skerrit, he hates no one and instead prays for them. “Those who don’t like me I pray for them, what you hate me for…why don’t you like me…what have I done to you, nothing. Simply because you want to be in this position and you guys want to be in government and the person preventing you from being there is Roosevelt Skerrit. I am from Dominica, born in Dominica, and will continue to remain in this country to continue my contribution of development to this country,” he posited.
He said that no matter where he decides to reside in Dominica he will remain a Dominican and people have to “respect that” the same way he respects people’s right to decide where they reside and to carry out their duties.
“But don’t believe ever, you are frightening me,” he stated.
