DPP discontinues treating case against DLP candidates

One day before a Treating case was to have been heard before a Roseau Magistrate against members of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) government for allegations of treating; the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has invoked her powers and issued a notice of “discontinuance” in the matter.

Magistrate Bernard Pacquette had set July 8 as the date for the start of a case against Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and 14 other members of his ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP).

When the matter came up before the court, only Dr. Kenneth Darroux, Johnson Drigo, and Catherine Daniel were present. Edingcot St. Valle the complainant was absent.

Acting DPP Sherma Dalrymple then informed the court that she in accordance with the provisions of Section 72 (2) (c) she had taken over the matter and filed a notice of “discontinuance” and served all the parties.
