Duncan Stowe takes oath as chair of Electoral Commission

Attorney at law Duncan Stowe today took the oath of allegiance and the oath of office as chairperson of the Electoral Commission in a small ceremony at the President’s office.

Stowe replaces Gerald Burton who held that post for a number of years.

Only GIS and DBS radio was allowed to be present at the function. In a brief interview moments after taking his oath, Stowe pledged to do his best.

“I am humbled by the confidence reposed in me by His Excellency the President to be Chairman of the Electoral Commission for this present term. I am aware of the herculean task ahead. However, I am ready to undertake the challenges that come with this job and I pray to God that I do not disappoint the people as I seek to perform my duties to the best of my abilities,” he said.

Also take his oath as a member of the Commission was Alick Lawrence SC.
