Former champs held to a draw by newcomers

Newcomers to the Premier Division East Central FC and former defending champions Central Cooperative Credit Union LTD Dublanc FC shared the points last evening when the action continued in the Dominic Football Association (DFA) Premier Division League.

In a rescheduled encounter on Wednesday evening at the Benjamin Park in Dublanc, both clubs played to a one-all draw.

East Central FC, through an own goal, secured a one nil advantage in the 22nd minute of play and enjoyed that lead heading into the interval. However, shortly after the resumption of play in the second half, national player Ajaya Royer got the equalizer in the 48th minute.

With the one point, the former champions moved to 21 points, 6 points adrift of the defending champions and league leaders, Sagicor South East FC. East Central has now taken its tally of points to 17.

When the action continues in the Premier Division on Friday evening, former champions, LA Enterprises Bombers will put their post-COVID-19 unbeaten streak on the line when they come up against Petro Caribe Pointe Michel from 6 pm at the Benjamin Park.
