Fr. Elton Letang removed as parish priest of St. Ann

The parish of St. Ann is now without a parish priest Nature Isle News (NIN) can confirm.

Fr. Elton Letang was removed as parish priest of St. Ann with immediate effect. The reason (s) for his removal is unknown at this time.

The parish consists of Massacre (St. Ann) Campbell (Mary Queen of peace), Canefield (St Martin de Porres) Mahaut (The Holy Family), and Warner (The Holy Spirit).

The letter from the Redemptorists House in Washington DC was read in church at Canefield (St Martin de Porres) on June 6, 2021.

According to an investigation done by NIN, he has already left Dominica for the Redemptorists House in Washington DC.

Fr. Letang, was born in the village of Giraudel and was ordained a Catholic priest by Bishop of Roseau, Most Reverend Gabriel Malzaire, in June 2013.

Before joining religious life, he taught at various institutions including the Newtown Primary School and the Roseau Boys School. After an accident in 2002, he joined a religious order called the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, commonly known as the Redemptorists.

He studied philosophy at St. John’s University and Theology at Boston College.
