Nine months after ceasing operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cash strapped is back in the skies again making its inaugural flight on November 1, 2020.
The aircraft departed Antigua at 4 pm and landed at the Douglas/Charles airport in Dominica at 4:45 and was greeted by the traditional water salute in Dominica.
In announcing the resumption of the airline’s operations in October, Antigua and Barbuda’s Information Minister, Melford Nicholas indicated that the regular commercial schedule of operations will begin on November 8th.
The airline will operate a limited schedule of flights that will return connectivity to its network which was impacted by the shutdown.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Dominica Air & Seaport Authority (DASPA) Benoit Bardouille said he was extremely happy that LIAT had resumed operations. “Everyone is happy to learn that LIAT is back in the skies and we are looking forward to having a good working relationship with LIAT,” he said.
Tourism Minister Denise Charles was also in attendance at the welcoming ceremony.
