Luke Prevost described as a devout and faithful Catholic-Deacon Alvin Knight

Not even the inclement weather or COVID-19 was enough to keep hundreds packing the Fatima Church in Newtown to bid a final farewell to Luke Prevost on August 17, 2020.

Prevost died at his home on July 30, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer he was also a communion minister in the Catholic Church.

The funeral mass was con-celebrated by a number of priests with Roman Catholic Deacon Alvin Knight doing the homily.

Deacon Knight described the late Luke Prevost as a faithful and devout Catholic who would “bring the body and blood of Christ to the sick at home”.

“Lukie gave a lot teaching orders on how to farm properly and also his family teaching them how to be good people. Remember whatever you ask God he could give to you. We must ask from the heart and don’t ask unnecessarily but things that will help us to build a relationship with God. We need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus doing what he has asked us to do loving one another as he loved us,” Deacon Knight said.

Using several scripture readings, Deacon Knight said that “Lukie and his family prayed every day giving God thanks for life.”

The late Luke Prevost remains were laid to rest at the Roseau Catholic cemetery.
