Man falls to his death from four story building

Police have confirmed the death of Mervin Defoe aged 56 from the community of Fond St. Jean who resided at Alcendor Square Grand Bay on May 31, 2022.

According to the Assistance Superintendent in charge of the Southern District Leanna Edwards, the deceased (Defoe) a contractor by profession, was aloft a four-story building working in Highland Grand Bay together with another worker but were on separate sections of the building.

She stated that at some point the co-worker did not see him in the building and became suspicious and went to look for him and saw him lying face down lifeless on the concrete pavement in what appeared to be a pool of blood.

The Grand Bay Fire & Ambulance was summoned to the scene along with the police and the District Medical Officer who officially pronounced him dead.

While the police have said that the death was likely due to an accidental fall, they have nonetheless, launched an investigation into the matter.
