New Chairperson for Pointe Michel Village Council

Accountant Edgar Peltier is the new chairperson elect of the Pointe Michel Village Council. Peltier one of the three government nominees replaces Erica Lewis-Jules.

The eight-member council met on the evening of October 19, 2020, to select its chairperson with Peltier coming up against Sonia Felix but after a few rounds of voting they remained deadlocked at 4-4.

Both sides were asked to again go back to the drawing board and after the votes were casted and counted Peltier emerged with four votes, Felix 3 and one rejected ballot.

He was to have been sworn in with the rest of the councilors that evening but Justice of the Peace Gustave Williams refused to administer the oath and it so therefore put for a later date.
