Dominica Cooperative Societies League Ltd.
on the passing of Mr. Clement Montgomery Carty
The credit union movement is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Clement Montgomery Carty.
From the halls of the credit union to his leadership of the Dominica Cooperative Societies League Ltd. and the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU) and advocacy across the Caribbean region, Bro. Carty was a trailblazer, a role model, and a champion of cooperativism, volunteerism, and commitment to governance and the strategic growth of the movement.
His life is a powerful testament to the invaluable contributions volunteerism can bring in enhancing the lives and livelihoods of others and leaving an indelible imprint.
Mr. Carty was no ordinary Dominican, he dedicated his entire life to the service of the people.
Mr. Carty was the recipient of the island’s third highest honor, the meritorious service award, and served at various credit unions at the Supervisory and compliance level as well as on the Board of directors. His tenure at the Credit union League saw a dynamic evolution of the movement in terms of capacity building, empowerment, and, strategic direction. His contributions at the regional level earned him the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions Distinguish service award. He also served on the board of the CCCU.
The Board of Directors of the DCSLL and the rest of the local and regional credit union movement extend condolences to the family at this time of great need.
