Ministry of health issues warning

The Ministry of Health in Dominica has issued a health advisory about the Saharan dust which is now affecting the Caribbean and parts of the world.

In a release, the ministry stated “a thick plume of Saharan dust haze will continue to blanket the island chain over the next few days resulting in reduced visibility and that people with respiratory illnesses should take the necessary precautions to minimize complications.”

According to the release, persons should continue to use face masks as they have been doing for COVID-19; limit outdoor activity; clean surfaces in living areas frequently with a wet cloth; ensure they have a sufficient supply of medications for respiratory conditions and drink the recommended 8 to 10 glasses of water per day.
