Three (3) armed robbers wearing face masks entered the premises of J. Astaphan & Co Ltd in Fond Cole just after 5:30 pm holding three employees hostage to the floor demanding money.
According to a Nature Isle News (NIN) source, the robbers struck one staff in the head and another was traumatized having to get urgent medical attention.
Reports are about six staff members were at the building at the time of the incident. The police mounted a massive search operation but so far no one has been arrested. Investigations into that matter is ongoing and the police is asking the public to provide them with any information that they may have to assit in the further investigations.
It is reported that the robbers may have escaped with cash of over twenty thousand dollars.
Speaking to the press, Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Superintendent Matthew Cuffy has called on the public to assist the police with information leading to the apprehension of the individuals.
Meantime, the police have shot one man and another is on the run in an operation in the capital Roseau. They have recovered two firearms in the process.
