Rain foils quarterfinal matchups

The rain had the major say last weekend in the 2022 Dominica Football Association Patrick John Cup. Three quarterfinal matches were affected due to the inclement weather on Saturday and Sunday. However, in the only completed encounter, Valvoline WE United FC edged out Tranquility Beach Middleham United FC.

In less than ideal pitch conditions on Saturday at the Stock Farm Sports Complex in the first match of a doubleheader, WE United FC secured a one-goal-to-nil triumph to earn a spot in the last four. The lone goal of the encounter was converted by national player Cheston Prosper midway through the first half of the play. For his all-important goal, Prosper was named the player of the game and received EC$150.

The second scheduled matchup between Petro Caribe Pointe Michel FC and Central Cooperative Credit Union Dublanc FC ended prematurely due to waterlogged and persistent lightning and thunder. At the time the match officials decided to call off the match, both clubs had failed to find the back of the net in 45 minutes of action.

The Sunday encounters between Sagicor South East FC versus Connect 767 East Central FC and Promex Harlem United versus Mahaut Soca Strikers FC were abandoned and will be rescheduled later this week.
