South East victorious in keenly contested affair

Defending Premier Division Champions Sagicor South East FC is one step closer to adding another national title to their collection.

On Wednesday at the Stockfarm Sports Complex, South East FC advanced to the championship match of the 2022 Dominica Football Association Patrick John Cup. The mammoth crowd that gathered at the sporting facility was not left disappointed and was treated to a keenly and exciting affair between South East FC and Promex Harlem United.

Both clubs struggled to gain the upper hand and failed to convert some good opportunities. However, in the 85th minute of play, national player, Sydney Lockhart produced a moment of brilliance to send the jubilant supporters into a frenzy. Lockhart, who has been a regular on the national team over the years, worked his magic and weaved his way and fired a powerful left-footer that left the Harlem custodian, Donte Newtown with no chance.

Promex Harlem has only themselves to blame as they failed to convert on numerous raids.

South East FC will now take on Central Cooperative Credit Union Dublanc FC in the finals on Sunday from 4 pm at the Stockfarm Sports Complex. Dublanc FC earned their spot in the final with four goals to one triumph over Valvoline WE United FC on Tuesday evening.

On Saturday, the two semifinal losers, WE United FC and Promex Harlem United will battle for third place.
