Dominica’s Senior Men’s National Football team under pressure to avoid relegation was able to salvage a goal-less draw against Antigua to earn a much-needed point and remain in League B of the Concacaf Nations League for next season at the behest of Antigua who are now relegated.

Antigua, who before that game was without a point needed to beat Dominica to avoid relegation while Dominica merely needed a draw to send them to 4 points after beating Antigua 2-1 in their first encounter in Antigua.

Dominica was scrappy, as Antigua pressured them with goalkeeper Glenson Prince coming up with a number of big saves to keep the Antiguans out.

In the second half, Antigua applied more pressure, and Dominica suffered a scare when Prince was injured and had to be stretchered off.

His deputy, Jerome Burkard, was called into action as he did in the first game against Bermuda, and was able to fend off the Antiguan threat at the end of the final whistle with a nil-nil draw.

The Antiguans dominated the game with 69.6% possession and Dominica 30.4% possession with four corner kicks and two shots at goal as compared to Antigua’s 14 corner kicks and four shots at goal.

Dominica ended the tournament with a -12 goal difference after playing six matches, with one win, one draw, and four defeats, for a total of four points.
